The main objectives of the project are Nordic culture, languages and citizenship.
The implemented subjects are Danish, Swedish, English, Finnish, History, Geography. We will handle the
topics in various subjects involved in the curriculum.
We make sure that activities are so different that it will arise motivation among the students. In addition
the use of ICT will motivate the students further.
Both partners have together planned the activities and agree to the activity plan. The aims and outcomes
correspond to the main goals.
May 2018: Student profile - short information such as family, interests, hobbies, idols.
August 2018: Students are matched up in small teams (4 persons). <writing letters to each other.
August 2018: Students communication start. E-mails, skype-sessions, google hangout, google
classroom.


August 2018 - September 2018: Students' presentations - family, homes, school, local community.
September 2018: Student exchange - in Finland.
Day 1: Arriving in Finland, Lohja and meeting the host families, teachers accomodation at the hotel
Day 2: At school, tour at school, lunch, getting to know each other, presentations and visiting lessons
Day 3: At school, lunch and visiting the sights in Lohja (limestone mine, church, lake etc.), evening with
the families
Day 4: Trip to Helsinki: visiting the main sights and museums. The students will learn about Golden age
artists in Ateneum.
Day 5: At school; evening with families at school (Amazing race)
Day 6: Haltia- Finnish Nature Center and Nuuksio national park/trekking in the nature, packed lunch,
evening with the families
Day 7: Departure
September 2018: Student exchange - the student will write a diary with photos and text and the diary will
be uploaded on Facebook and the web site so the parents can keep track with the exchange and the
project. Evaluation of the homestay.
October - November 2018: Danish, Swedish, Finnish languages (comparison): working with vocabulary,
pronunciation, translating simple phrases - using kahoot and quizlet. The students will work in mixed
groups. Evaluation - making a dictionary.
December 2018 - January 2019: Working with Christmas traditions - using ICT skills (for instance
powerpoint). Pictures of decorations, food, advent, Lucia including descriptions in text will be put on the
web site.
National Christmas carols will be recorded and uploaded so the students can listen and compare melody
and vocabulary. A national Christmas recipe explained in pictures and instructions will be exchanged
between the two schools and the partner school will follow the instructions and upload the result on the
web site and in the Facebook group.
February 2019: Working with literature - fairy tales: HC. Andersen and Topelius - comparing the texts and
focusing on the genre and the authors' background. The students will make a powerpoint presentation of
the authors. The Danish students will teach the Finnish students about the "Golden age" in Denmark and
focus on the Skagen artists (they will visit the Skagen museum during their stay in Denmark). In Finland
it is planned to visit the Ateneum museum in September.
March 2019: Working with history, geography, democracy, independency as preparation for student
exchange - teaching situation. The students will get focus points from their teachers - and they need to
find information about the themes (exploratory learning). During the student exchange the students will
teach each other about their country's historic, geographical and democratic background.
April 2019: Student exchange - in Denmark.
Program for students’ mobility in Hojene School (Denmark)
Sunday - Welcoming the guests to Hjoerring, Denmark. Meeting the host families (students), teachers
accommodation at the hotel.
Monday - Mobility opening day
Guided tour of the school and the local area.
Icebreaking activities - coorporation and social time
Lunch
Exploring the local city. Guided tour during which the students will take pictures and videos for later use
in a final presentation of the visit.
Free time in host families.
Tuesday
Trip to Skagen - visiting Grenen and Skagen Museum - guided tour focusing on the Skagen painters and
the Golden era
Dinner
Free time in host families
Wednesday


Trip to Aarhus - visiting the old city and Aros - art museum. The students will take pictures for later use in
the final presentation.

Thursday
Visiting Nordt Sea science Park - the students will participate in scientific activities organised by the
museum.

Friday - Final day
School day at Hoejene School. The students will attend classes and teach younger students simple
things about their own culture and country.
Friendship evening at school - parents, students and teachers will participate.
Local dinner dishes and cultural exchange. Handing out the certificates of participation. The guests will
show their prepared presentation about their home country.
Free time in host families.
Saturday - Leaving Hjoerring, Denmark - saying goodbye.
Teaching each other - historic background - evaluation of informations.
May 2019: Evaluation.
